Standing High out of Shrunken Peat Book Launch

A PERFECT EVENT!

This quick post is to cover our super successful book launch event, to express huge thanks to those who made it and to share some photos with those that couldn’t.

The book launch was held in the gardens of the historic home and birthplace of John Clare, our most remarkable poet of the English countryside.

What better place then, to introduce the work of a rising contemporary poet who derives inspiration from the very same muse.

It was my privilege as an artist to show my work alongside the fascinating series of poems created by Becky Owen-Fisher for our book Standing High out of Shrunken Peat.

To help launch the event the incredible talented Actor Peter Crarer of Mask Theatre gave live recitals of both John Clare and Becky’s poems complemented by songs from the fantastic a cappella folk group The Lincolnshire Poachers.

The outdoor event was sold out weeks in advance and that allowed us plenty of time to pray for good weather. Guests were extremely delighted that our prayers had been answered. We sold over 35 copies of the book and it was our honour to be asked to sign them.

After the introductions and entertainment guests wandered the beautifully kept gardens of the cottage admiring the exhibition of new and old paintings and large printed poetry displays.

Five new paintings were sold along with many limited editions and greetings cards after which a donation was made to the John Clare Cottage.

If you were unable to be there but would like to buy a copy of the book they are £12.99 (£14.99 inc postage).

They are available at my website https://nicktearle.net/product-category/books

A huge thank you again to all that made it, your continuing support sends me back to the easel with renewed vigour as always.
